The Department of Defense has identified 3,005 American service members who have died since the start of the Iraq war. It confirmed the deaths of the following Americans yesterday:

BERG, Ryan R., 19, Pfc., Army; Sabine Pass, Tex. First Cavalry Division.

MUNDELL, Michael L., 47, Maj., Army; Brandenburg, Ky.; 108th Division.

SUN, Ming, 20, Pfc., Army; Cathedral City, Calif.; Second Infantry Division.
